Johnson started listening to Elvis' music as a small child in the form of records and later on in 8-tracks. Since becoming an Elvis Tribute Artist, he has had met some of the people Elvis performed and recorded with. He keeps a busy schedule performing throughout the region, already having performed numerous shows in Mississippi, Tennessee, Louisiana, Georgia and Florida.
Awards scheduled to be presented at this year’s banquet include Pioneer, Tater Boy, Mama Grace, Best Washed and Graded Bushel of Sweet Potatoes, Mayor’s Cup and the various recipe winners.
Entries for the recipe contest must be brought to the Vardaman High School cafeteria at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14.
The banquet will also include the annual auction of this year's Sweet Potato Quilt.
